FAQs

Where are you based?

I am in London, UK, but I do all of my therapy work online.

Is online therapy as good as in-person?

Yes, according to both research and my own experience. I have found that clients do as well with online therapy as they do with in-person therapy, and often prefer it due to the convenience that it offers. Research studies confirm that outcomes from online therapy are equal to those from in-person therapy.

What are your fees?

£140 per session, or according to your insurer's schedule of fees.

Can I pay using health insurance?

Yes. I work with Aviva, AXA, BUPA, and WPA.

How do I pay?

By bank transfer or PayPal, before or after each session.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes long.

What will happen in my first session?

The first session is a chance for me to find out about you and what you want help with, and for you to get a sense of how I work, and whether you think I can help you.

I will start by asking you if you have any questions for me, and then I will ask you some questions, to get a full sense of what is going on for you.

Later in the session, I might give a brief summary of how I understand your difficulties and how I might work with them.

What happens in a therapy session?

This varies, but in general I will ask you what has happened since our last session, I will give a short recap of that session, and then we will discuss whatever issues seem most pressing.

If nothing seems especially pressing to you, then I will probably have some ideas about what it would be useful to talk about.

In our discussion, we will examine issues in your life in order to understand them and work out what actions you would like to take, and you will learn skills to help you work with the thoughts and feelings that get in the way of you taking those actions.

How often will we meet?

As often as you like! My advice, though, would be to come weekly at first, and then perhaps to space sessions out more after the first few months of therapy.

Will we meet at the same time each week?

It's up to you. Either you can have a regular slot each week, or you can book directly into my diary whenever suits you.

How long does therapy last?

For as long as it is useful. In general, that is somewhere between a couple of months and a year.

What if I need to cancel?

If you give at least 24 hours' notice, you can cancel free of charge. Otherwise, you will be charged the full fee for the session.
